The chair of Process Systems Engineering is head by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heiko Briesen since November 2008.

It is the objective of our group to develop and  transfer process systems engineering concepts for/to food and  beverage technological as well as biological processes. As a  discipline, process systems engineering stands out by its integrative approach. By closely connecting mathematical and computer scientific knowledge with up-to-date process understanding, it generates insight on the basis of models. This insight serves the optimization and/or development of new processes and products. Therefore, process systems engineering is not focused on a particular application or product but defines a model-based approach to problem solving.
